Legend actor Ezzatollah Entezami’s last film goes on screen

Legend Iranian actor Ezzatollah Entezami’s last film ‘Motherland’ goes on domestic screens.

Legendary Iranian veteran actor Ezzatollah Entezami’s last film ‘Motherland’ has gone on the domestic screens.

‘Motherland’ directed and produced by Abolhassan Davoudi is currently on screen at some 20 cinema theaters in Tehran.

The movie is about the relationship between family members of different generations, motherland and lost identity.

Featuring popular actors such as Masoud Rayegan, Roya Teymourian, Bahram Radan, Pegah Ahangarani, Houshang Tavakkoli and Mehdi Solouki, the film is Entezami’s last appearance on the silver screen.

Born in 1924, veteran actor Entezami started his career on stage in 1941 and graduated from a theater and cinema school in Hanover, Germany, in 1958.

Upon his return to Iran, he became a voice and television actor.

His debut performance was in Dariush Mehrjooyi’s ‘The Cow’ in 1969, which received a Golden Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival in 1971.

He has received two Fajr International Film Festival’s Crystal Simorghs as Best Actor for ‘Grand Cinema’ (1988) and ‘Angel’s Day’ (1993).

Entezami also received a certificate of Merit from the Fajr Festival for ‘Nassereddin Shah Film Actor’ (1991).

He has acted in several movies, including 'Mr. Simpleton', 'The Postman', 'Sattarkhan', 'Hereafter', 'Kamal-ol-Molk', 'Suitcase', 'The Tenants', 'Jafar Khan Returns from Abroad', 'In the Storm's Path', 'The Angelica', 'Hamoon', 'Shadow of Illusion', 'The Empty House', 'The Fateful Day', 'Blue Scarf', 'A Place to Live', 'The Verdict', 'Colors of Memory', 'Night', 'Maritime Silk Road', and 'Being 40' from 1970 to 2009.

From 1979 to 1999, he has also appeared in some series, such as 'Hezar Dastan', 'Life', and 'The Trial'.
